Open Call:

Exhibition in support of International Homeless Animals’ Day

Submission Deadline: August 11, 2026

FLOHAUS Gallery is pleased to announce an open call for a benefit exhibition in recognition of International Homeless Animals’ Day.

This exhibition is dedicated to stray animals, rescue stories, and the quiet forms of love that grow around them. Every heart longs for a warm place to call home. For stray lives, that place might be a cardboard box beneath an awning, a warm corner near a storefront, a patch of sunlight on the pavement, or a narrow gap between the walls of a forgotten building. They live in the same city as we do, but we often don’t really see them. Sometimes, one small sound from a worn cardboard box on the street makes us stop, crouch down, and look closer. In that moment, what once felt distant becomes close. What was once unseen becomes a life we can no longer ignore.

Through this exhibition, FLOHAUS Gallery invites artists to submit works inspired by stray animals, rescue stories, companionship, memory, and the idea of home. We are interested in works that reflect on the bond between humans and animals, the warmth of care, and the small acts of compassion that can change the course of a life.

Submissions may include, but are not limited to: painting, photography, sculpture, textile, prints, illustration, artist merchandise, objects

Theme keywords: stray animals, rescue, home, care, companionship, memory, compassion, friendship, love

Exhibition Format: Selected artworks will be presented through both a physical exhibition at the gallery and an online exhibition on Artsy, with promotion across our network. As part of this project, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to support animal rescue and protection work. We hope the exhibition can be more than a presentation of artworks, and become a small shared act of care between artists, the gallery, our partners, and the community.

Eligibility: Open to artists of all backgrounds.

Submission Deadline: August 11, 2026

Exhibition Date: Late August 2026

Submission Fee: $20 USD

Selected artists will be considered for future exhibitions and collaborations with FLOHAUS Gallery. We look forward to presenting works that honor not only the lives of stray animals, but also the people who choose to care, and in doing so, create a home together.
